Most of the laptop keyboards are a bit delicate and prone to failure after being pounded on by heavy handed users. Broken key caps and even whole sections becoming inoperative are cause for alarm to those users who are clueless as to the cause. Food and drink are a big reason for a majority of trouble. Replacements are readily available and if not, plugging in USB external ones can make for a usable replacement. This robs the user of its true portability but if parts aren't available will allow for continued but limited use. Foreign objects present serious threats to not only the keyboard but the display when left behind and the lid is closed.To clean the tops of the keys, use isopropyl alcohol. Soak it up into a soft, dust-free cloth, or use a cotton swab and gently rub the key tops. Try not to drip any alcohol inside the keyboard, and never use a spray cleaner directly on the keyboard.
Laptop Keyboards are gross compared to desktop keyboards.
They always have food particles and hair (cat or otherwise), Am not saying desktop keyboards are far more sanitized but at least they are easy to clean or replace.
The best solution is to replace after all attempt of fixing
