Fast & Furious actor, Paul Walker dies in car crash

The 40-year-old Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker died in a car crash when his friend lost control of a Porsche GT,collided with a telephone pole and burst into flames.
Paul Walker was a strong supporter of a humanitarian charity called Reach Out Worldwide.A statement on its Facebook page read:

"It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for Reach Out Worldwide.

"He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives."We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news.

"Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time."We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences."

Universal Studios, the company behind the Fast and Furious films, has released a statement following the death of Paul Walker in a car crash.It read:

"All of us at Universal are heartbroken."Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the 'Fast and Furious' films and to countless fans."We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul's family."

Paul Walker's friend, Antonio Holmes,said he was at the scene of the accident and saw the Porsche burst into flames.He told the Santa Clarita Valley Signal newspaper that he had tried to put the fire out and recognized Walker inside the vehicle.Holmes said:

"Him and his buddy, his brother in arms at heart just decided to joyride, take a spin."Something we all do."We're all car enthusiasts. ... We’re all here driving, enjoying each other, and God must’ve needed help."We all heard from our location (the accident).

"It's a little difficult to know what it was. Someone called it in and said it was a vehicle fire."We all ran around and jumped in cars and grabbed fire extinguishers and immediately went to the vehicle.

"It was engulfed in flames."There was nothing."They were trapped."Employees, friends of the shop. We tried. We tried. We went through fire extinguishers."

At the time of his death, Walker was filming the seventh Fast & Furious movie with Vin Diesel. Just yesterday, he tweeted the following message to his followers

Samsung Galaxy Grand Lite Baru Hadir Dengan Processor Tinggi

Sebagai salah satu brand besar di pasar Smartphone, nampaknya Samsung mulai melakukan gebrakan menjelang pergantian tahun 2013 ini. Setelah mengumumkan rencana perilisan Samsung Galaxy S5 belum lama ini, kini brand asal Korea tersebut mulai menggebrak dengan smartphone andalan mereka lainnya, yaitu Samsung Galaxy Grand Lite 2.

Samsung Galaxy Grand adalah salah satu smartphone Android andalan Samsung yang telah lebih dulu sukses sejak tahun lalu. Menurut berita yang dilansir oleh beberapa sumber, Samsung Galaxy Lite yang akan diluncurkan pada kuartal pertama tahun 2014 ini telah mengalami beberapa perkembangan dari segi hardware dan software.

Some of the rumored specs include a 5” WVGA display, a 1.2GHz quad-core chipset with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage with microSD card support for memory expansion, and a 2,100mAh battery. It is also expected to feature a 5MP rear-facing camera and a VGA front-facing camera, and oddly enough it will come with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on board. We would have at least expected Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, although Android 4.4 KitKat would be ideal, but hopefully the handset will see an update to Android 4.3 upon its release. Sesuai dengan namanya 'Lite' yang berarti tipis / sedikit. Samsung Galaxy Grand Lite pun nampaknya memiliki fitur tertentu yang dikurangi dibandingkan dengan versi sebelumnya (non-lite). Perubahan tersebut nampaknya terdapat pada resolusi layar yang menggunakan WVGA dengan dimensi 5 inchi. Namun penurunan resolusi layar tidak memengaruhi kinerja hardware nya yang mengusung processor quad-core 1,2 GHz dengan RAM 1GB.

Untuk kamera sendiri, masih seperti pendahulunya yang dilengkapi dengan dual-camera depan belakang. Tetapi kualitas kamera pada Samsung Galaxy Grand Lite hanya memiliki ketajaman 5 MP saja, seperti Samsung Galaxy S3. Untuk kapasitas penyimpanan internal sendiri masih sama dengan versi Grand, yakni 8 GB dengan tambahan slot memory yang bisa ditambah sewaktu - waktu. Sedangkan untuk kapasitas baterai masih menggunakan daya 2.100MAh seperti pendahulunya.

Memang belum ada rincian spesifikasi secara keseluruhan, namun diperkirakan harga Samsung Galaxy Grand Lite akan dibanderol dengan harga yang lebih murah dibandingkan versi Grand karena ponsel ini memang diluncurkan untuk target pasar yang lebih luas untuk menjangkau berbagai kalangan. Untuk harga terakhir Samsung Galaxy Grand sendiri pada bulan November 2013 ini masih berkisar Rp.3.200.000,- .Diperkirakan harga versi Lite ini akan dibanderol dengan harga sekitar 2 jutaan. Kita tunggu saja hingga bulan Februari 2014 mendatang.

Xbox One Laris Manis Namun Bermasalah!

Tidak bisa dipungkiri, konsol game Xbox memang selalu menjadi pesaing terkuat dari Playstation sejak pertama kali peluncuran kedua mesin tersebut. Dari data statistik memang menunjukkan keunggulan penjualan mesin keluaran Microsoft tersebut di benua Eropa, Amerika, dan Australia berbanding dengan Sony dengan Playstation nya yang hanya mendominasi Asia dan Australia. Besarnya minat masyarakat Eropa dan Amerika terhadap konsol Xbox One terbukti saat malam peluncuran mesin ini pada beberapa hari yang lalu.

Masyarakat New York berbondong-bondong mengantri di depan gedung demi mendapatkan mesin tersebut. Hasil penjualan pun berjalan sukses dengan mencatatkan rekor yang melampaui penjualan Xbox 360 saat kali pertama peluncurannya dulu. Menurut Reuters, konsol Xbox One sukses menjual 1 juta unit pada hari pertama peluncuran. Hal tersebut memang berimbang dengan hasil penjualan konsol Playstation 4 (PS4) yang juga laku dengan angka yang sama.

Xbox One :Green Screen of Death!

Pihak Microsoft boleh berbangga dengan hasil penjualan pada hari pertama. Namun, selang sehari berikutnya, nampaknya mereka sudah harus menerima banyaknya komplainan terkait dengan mesin terbarunya yang baru dijual di 13 negara saja. Seperti yang dilaporkan oleh Softpedia beberapa hari berikutnya, ternyata banyak pengguna Xbox One yang mengalami error pada layar dashboardnya saat tampilan awal logo Xbox One muncul yang kemudian tidak merespon ke layar berikutnya.

Mereka menyebutnya dengan gejala "Green Screen of Death" .Banyak pengguna yang mengajukan komplain serta solusi yang ditawarkan oleh Microsoft untuk mengatasi problem tersebut. Hingga saat ini memang pihak Microsoft belum memberi kabar terkait dengan error tersebut. Kita tunggu saja perkembangan berikutnya.

Problem Xbox One

Bagi kita yang tinggal di Asia termasuk Indonesia, nampaknya harus menunggu sebentar lagi untuk menikmati konsol dengan grafis tajam ini. Mudah-mudahan saja pada saat peluncurannya nanti di Indonesia, mesin Xbox sudah diperbaharui dengan sistem baru yang telah diperbaiki dari segala Bug yang ada saat ini.

= =>using your laptop while plugged in has no significant negative effect on your laptop battery, so the notion that when making use of your laptop that after sometimes or when the battery is fully charged, that unplugging it helps in preventing the battery from over-charging is a wrong perception about laptop batteries.

Findings show that especially for all the modern laptops that when charging is complete during usage, it switches from charging to supplying thereby preventing the battery from overcharging. Here the only little and insignificant disadvantages of that is that while charging the laptop battery as is being used, it slows down the charging process and takes longer for the battery to be fully charged. By so doing you can keep the battery up to 3 to 6 months without actually affecting its lifespan and still enjoys the juice in it whenever you now decide to make use of it again.

Domestic Violence: Nursing mother stabs husband to death

The police in Lagos have arrested a 33-year-old woman, Biola Gbadamosi, for allegedly murdering her husband, Jamiu, in the Ikorodu area of the state.According to the police, the suspect, who is a nursing mother, stabbed her husband with a knife during an argument over rice.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect and her husband, who is a Vehicle Inspection Officer, had a history of domestic violence prior to the incident.Biola, who spoke to our correspondent while fighting back tears, said she had no intention of killing her husband, adding that she only stabbed him once on the thigh.She said,

“Jamiu and I dated for four years, but when I got pregnant this year, we did introduction and I started living with him in Idi Iroko, Ikorodu. However, when I was three months pregnant, he started beating me.“Most times, he takes alcoholic drink and he comes back home drunk and starts beating me for flimsy reasons. He even had a kidney ailment.“One day, he came home drunk, accused me of infidelity and started beating me. He said he had been told that I was going to poison his food, but I continued to endure. I, however, reported the beatings to his mother and siblings.”

The suspect said after being delivered of a baby in August, she usually went to her family’s house in Somolu from where she would take her baby for post-natal.She said on September 7, 2013, she returned home with her baby only to have a fight with her husband hours later.She said,

“While I was about leaving my parents’ home, my husband called to say that he was broke and I should make money available for the weekend. When I got home, I started cooking fried rice but my husband, who was drunk, said he did not like it. I jokingly called him a bush man and an argument ensued.“While we were arguing, a neighbour, who sells drinks, came into our flat to collect money that we owed her. I was grating carrots with a knife when my husband slapped me and said I must leave his house that night.“I used the knife I was holding to strike him on the thigh and he started bleeding profusely. The neigbours and I took him to a hospital. At the hospital, I was told that my husband’s injury was not deep, so neighbours said I should take my baby home.”

The suspect told PUNCH Metro that the next morning the landlord informed her that her husband died at midnight.“The matter was reported at the Owutu Police Division and I was arrested,” she said.

The suspect, who claimed to be an Ordinary National Diploma degree holder from Ibadan Polytechnic, insisted that her husband’s killing was not deliberate.While pleading with the police to show her mercy, she said,

“My little baby, Oluwaseyifunmi, is with my husband’s family and I fear that my child will never get to know me if I am sent to prison. My breasts are still filled with milk and no baby to suckle them.”

When our correspondent visited the scene of the incident, the landlord, Theophilus Kalejaiye, said the couple had a history of violence.Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone, said the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba for further investigation.

Instagram Now on Windows Phone 8

Social photo sharing network Instagram is now available on the Windows Phone 8 platform.

Instagram, as well as Waze, the crowd-source traffic and navigation app, are downloadable on all Nokia Lumia devices in the UK from Thursday.

Microsoft has also released a whole host of figures which show that although the platform is a long way behind Apple and Android, it has been showing modest growth since the launch of Windows Phone 8.

According to TechCrunch,

Windows Phone has so far seen three billion application downloads, which is still a long way off iOS’s more than 60 billion aggregate downloads.

Since the release of Windows Phone 8 “monthly paid app revenue” has increased by 181 per cent, and in the past year app downloads have almost trebled.

Alkisah, dahulu kala di sebuah kerajaan, sang raja memberikan kepercayaan kepada putra sulungnya untuk memimpin pasukan perang sebab ia sudah tidak sanggup lagi melanjutkan perang lantaran telah memasuki usia lanjut. Sang raja memilih dan memberikan kepercayaan kepada putranya karena ilmu bela diri yang dimiliki putranya sangat hebat. Sang raja yakin bahwa dengan ilmu bela diri yang dimiliki putranya itu, ia pasti bisa melumpuhkan setiap musuh yang dihadapi.

Beberapa hari kemudian setelah pelantikan putranya sebagai kepala pasukan perang, terdengar kabar bahwa akan ada serangan dari suku lain yang ditunjukkan kepada sang raja dan pasukannya. Raja muda pun mempersiapkan seluruh pasukannya untuk menghadapi lawan.

Saat di medan perang, korban berjatuhan di pihak pasukan raja muda. Hampir sebagian pasukannya tewas dalam pertempuran tersebut. Melihat pasukannya semakin berkurang, raja muda memerintahkan mereka untuk mundur. Saat mundur, mereka tidak pernah melakukan perlawanan apa pun. Namun, sang raja muda memberikan perintah untuk bertahan lalu menyusun strategi baru agar bisa melakukan serangan kembali.

Ketika mengetahui bahwa pihak raja muda telah mundur, seluruh pasukan dari pihak suku pemberontak bersenang-senang karena telah memenangkan pertempuran. Pada saat mereka bersenang-senang itulah, raja muda dengan sisa pasukannya kembali menyerang sampai seluruh pasukan pemberontak dapat dilumpuhkan tanpa adanya perlawanan yang berarti. Setelah mengalahkan pasukan pemberontak, raja muda kembali ke instana dengan dikawal oleh sisa pasukannya.

Sesampainya di istana, sang ayah terkejut karena mereka kembali dengan membawa bendera kemenangan. Sang ayah pun berkata kepada putranya: "Apa yang telah kamu lakukan sehingga dapat melumpuhkan musuh dengan mudah?"

"Melihat pasukan saya semakin banyak yang gugur, kami berpura-pura mundur. Ketika kami mundur, musuh mengira bahwa kami telah kalah. Saat itu, mereka merayakan kemenangan karena mengira kami telah menyerah. Namun, pada saat mereka merayakan kemenangan itulah, saya dan sisa pasukan kembali untuk menyerang mereka dan melumpuhkan semuanya tanpa adanya perlawanan yang berarti" jawab putranya.

Manusia memang tidak pernah ada yang sempurna. Kita semua pasti memiliki kelebihan dan kekurangan. Di satu sisi kita mungkin kuat, tetapi di sisi lain kita juga memiliki kelemahan. Dalam kehidupan maupun usaha apa pun, kita sering emrasa bimbang dalam membuat pilihan ketika menerima kesulitan. Kita kadang tidak bisa memilih mana yang harus dilakukan, mana yang tidka perlu dilakukan. Kita pun merasa takut akan akibat dari tindakan yang kita ambil. Semua pilihan mengandung konsekuensi.

Oleh karena itu, penting bagi kita untuk mengambil sedikit waktu guna mengatur rencana dengan lebih baik dan melihat peluang dari sudut pandang yang berbeda. Jika kita mengalami kegagalan dalam hidup maupun usaha apa pun, jangan cepat-cepat mundur maupun lari. Jangan pernah memilih untuk menyerah. Ambil sedikit waktu untuk merencanakan suatu strategi yang lebih baik dari sebelumnya, kemudian maju lagi dengan semangat baru.

Kesulitan merupakan tantangan yang harus kita taklukkan. Mundur sejenak untuk membuat rencana baru dan maju kembali saat sudah siap untuk mengambil kesempatan merupakan cara untuk menjadi pemenang sejati. Ini yang disebut dengan kesempatan kedua, ketiga, dst.
